Ok, so let me start by saying that Goliath chain restaurants are the devil. I've had my fair share of working in many of them, eating in many of them, and in one bad Rubby Tuesday salad bar fiasco, projectile vomiting in them. Now with that said, there are a few chain restaurants that save grace on a few occasions and, to me, Chili's has always been one of those places. Chili's of State College is no exception. The menu is, well, the usual chain restaurant flair. Some common appetizers, soups, hamburgers done multiple ways, but the food is still satisfying. You give me something with their crispy chicken in it and some buffalo sauce, or anything they serve with those stewed corn on the cobs, and I'm a happy man! ... and while we're on the subject, let's talk about their endless chips and salsa. There is no better way to relax and watch the game then with one order of endless chips and salsa and a couple drinks. I can sit their contently for hours munching and drinking away. The Staff is always friendly (unless your wearing the wrong sports colors, but then again most Philadelphia fans give you a hard time anyways... I think it's because the only champion they have is Rocky ;-)), and service is usually quick and prompt if your not one of those pain in the ass customers we in the business have the pleasure of dealing with from time to time (You know who you are),... but in the end for me chili's is a perfect place to actually just sit at the bar, have a good conversation with your friends, drink a few beers and eat some good food.

Good food, reasonable prices, very filling. With no Chuy's nearby, this will do.

Friendly service. Decent food. I remember the ribs being great but they tasted pretty average on a recent visit. Their burgers are still good though.

In-Short: Just an average restaurant serving average food for an average price. The Food: (average) Typically, I order the Jalapeno Smokehouse Burger w/ fries, chips and salsa for starters, and a Long Island Ice Tea for drink. The chips and salsa are typically disappointing in some aspect, whether they are too oily or the salsa is super runny. The drinks is average, no complaints. The Smokehouse Burger is really tasty, if not over-indulgent. The enormous bacon strips that come with the sandwich earn it extra kudos. The Atmosphere: (average) Every Chili's that I have ever been to (probably around 5) look the same, and this is no exception. It is typically a dimly-lit, tex-mex decor atmosphere that is good for groups. If you are going solo, they have a bar with some big TV's, yay! This locations is typically clean and of an moderate noise level. The Price: (average) Typically, I and my girlfriend can eat here for about $20 - 25. I feel that the prices are very fair, hitting a nice sweet spot for type of restaurant. The Service: (average) The waiters/waitresses are typically polite and check on you a few times to make sure all is good.

So, I've ordered food from here twice, via delivery. I've never actually been into this Chili's. But, they have awesome salads and desserts and their delivery takes (obviously not on a super crazy night) about 20-30 minutes. Can't complain. I haven't ordered hot food so I'm not sure how good that is, but their salads and desserts deliver very well and quickly.

I went there on Saturday night, 11 January, for a drink and an appetizer with a couple of friends who were eating a late supper. It was nearly 10 PM when we were there, so it was not busy. The service was average, and the food (Southwestern eggrolls) was average or slightly above average as Chili's goes. Drink prices were about average; however, it was happy hour -- and there is an establishment (the Phyrst) just around the corner that has pitchers of the 22-oz. beer that I had for one dollar less than the price I paid for the 22-oz. one -- so I cannot recommend Chili's on the value of the drinks. However, it is good place to go to have conversation whilst drinking.

This Allen Street location will be closing at the end of May 2015. The business owner sold the building that he also owns so Chili's will be no more.

I really hate chain restaurants and try to avoid them whenever possible, especially "fast casual" establishments like Applebee's, Olive Garden, Red Lobster, you get the picture...HOWEVER...I love Chili's! Now, I go to Chili's a lot...but I order one thing and one thing only: the fajitas! The steak is always extremely tender, just the perfect amount red in the center and super juicy. Overcooked steak completely ruins a meal for me, and it seems to be an epidemic among the chain places. But I've never had this problem at Chili's, and that is why I love them. Usually I get the steak and portobello and their chimichurri sauce is so awesome I have to restrain myself from embarassingly scooping it into my mouth with my fork. And no charge for extra tortillas. I can't speak for any of the other dishes at this place but really...fajitas...I wish I could eat them every day... I hate, however, how strict they are regarding alcohol. You can't order a drink if even one person at your table is under 21, and yes they card every single time. I don't understand why because (and this brings me to my other gripe) there is barely ANY alcohol in their drinks! I mean seriously, I can't even get a buzz off two of the large pitcher-sized ones. And they're pricey, around $10. They taste so good but yet I know I'm being ripped off hardcore. Desserts aren't so good either, FYI, unless you like microwaved cake. UPDATE: They took the steak-portobello fajitas off the menu...three stars, Chili's. Tsk Tsk

Upon walking in, it seems like just another chain restaurant with college-aged hostesses wearing massive amounts of flare. Yet, after getting quickly seated, we received immediate service from the waitress, asking us what type of drinks we wanted. The menu had a very large selection for an extremely reasonable price - $9-15 / person. A friend always suggested that I get the Triple Dipper for an appetizer, so I made sure to order that as soon as possible since it was busy at the time. It was absolutely delicious. Then, to top it all off, I could pay for alcohol with Lion Cash! Also, if you don't want to sit down, they have recently offered delivery service. After eating at almost every place in State College, it's safe to say that Chili's is always a sure bet.

Waiters are very helpful and honestly they asked for me if the food contains any liquor, wine or pork product and in case I forgot to note that and they made the order they change it right for me without any charge . Amount of food served is good so far they don't have much variety for kids menu but, for a group of friend is ideal

Chili's is the kind of place you never normally go to on purpose, but during my college days they had an incredible special on Wednesdays...I don't remember what it was, exactly, but I do recall getting round after round of margaritas and nachos and it didn't cost hardly anything at all ($1 each? Does that make sense? I think it does). The place would be PACKED for this special, but it didn't annoy the hell out of me like most other bars in town and I found myself here on a consistent basis.
